Green Loan for Buildings
Finance eco-friendly and energy-efficient buildings
Handelsbanken offers Green Loans for buildings that are environmentally certified or energy-efficient. These loans support the construction of new, eco-friendly buildings or the improvement of existing ones. Eligible properties include multi-family residences like housing cooperatives and commercial buildings such as office spaces.
- Must meet specific technical criteria for environmental consideration.
- Available for new loans or modifications of existing loans.
- Maximum loan term is five years or the remaining validity period of the energy declaration or certification.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted at your local Handelsbanken branch. The bank will assess your project based on the green loan criteria. If approved, a standard credit assessment will be conducted. Annual reporting on compliance with energy requirements may be necessary.
Eligibility
To qualify for a Green Property Loan for commercial buildings or multi-family residences, the building must:
- Have an energy declaration of class A or B.
- Belong to the top 15% of similar buildings according to BBR29.
- Be certified or to be certified under systems like Svanen, Miljöbyggnad (Silver), BREEAM (Very Good), or LEED (Gold).
- Consume 10% less energy per square meter annually than required by Boverkets byggregler.
